PROVIDING CARE SERVICES TO THE PEOPLE OF NEW PLYMOUTH SINCE 1972
Owned and operated by one local family since 1972.
Omahanui has been part of the New Plymouth community since the 1940's when it opened as a Rest and Convalescent home. It was bought in 1972 by Mrs Patricia Stevenson (Wesley) to provide a very personal homelike environment for its residents. In 1985 Omahanui changed its focus to specialise solely in the care of people with Dementia. In 1994 Omahanui Home Care was started to provide household and personal care services for the people of Taranaki to enable them to stay in their homes longer. In 1999 a long term dream was realised when Patricia established and opened the Omahanui Special Care Unit on Peace Avenue. The Unit provides both long term care and rehabilitative services for people who have suffered Acquired and Traumatic Brain Injury through accidents.
